Silenced Voices: Standing Strong in the Face of Censorship
In a World of Suppressed Expression, Your Support Matters Now more than Ever
More upsetting news this month as we’ve had our audiobook account put on hiatus and it faces possible cancellation. It is suddenly tied up with our previous KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) woes that saw Graham’s and both of Darren’s KDP accounts closed without notice and books unpublished. Subsequently, a few friends that tried to help seen their accounts deleted as well. Our Adultbrain audiobooks account for 70 percent of our income and play a giant role in our livelihoods, including Graham’s ability to continue to do the show full time. It is looking like he is going to have to head back to work as our income is about to take a drastic reduction, unless we can restore our KDP account somehow. Another 25 percent of our income comes from our few hundred Grimerica Outlawed subscribers, and the remaining 5 from the Flagship, Value for Value, Grimerica Show. We suddenly need your support more than ever. Please consider a subscription or one time donation today.

Censorship, the act of suppressing or controlling information, has a long and complex history that dates back to ancient times. Throughout the centuries, governments, religious institutions, and even individuals have sought to control the flow of information for various reasons. Censorship has been practiced in different forms and for different purposes throughout history. From the burning of books in ancient China to the modern-day internet restrictions in certain countries, censorship has always been a tool used to control information and maintain power. Let’s explore the evolution of censorship, its motivations, and its consequences on society.
1. Ancient Censorship:
Censorship can be traced back to ancient civilizations, where rulers and religious leaders sought to control the dissemination of information. In ancient China, for example, the burning of books during the Qin Dynasty was a form of censorship aimed at suppressing dissenting ideas and maintaining political control. Similarly, the Roman Catholic Church's Index Librorum Prohibitorum, a list of banned books, was an attempt to control religious doctrine and prevent the spread of heretical ideas during the Middle Ages.
2. Enlightenment and Press Freedom:
The Enlightenment period marked a significant shift in attitudes towards censorship. Thinkers and philosophers such as Voltaire and John Locke advocated for freedom of speech and the press, challenging the authority of governments and religious institutions. The printing press played a crucial role in this movement, as it allowed for the mass production and dissemination of ideas. However, even during this period, censorship still persisted in many forms. Governments and monarchs often imposed restrictions on the press, censoring content that was deemed subversive or dangerous to their rule.
3. Modern Censorship:
The advent of the internet and digital communication has brought about new challenges and opportunities for censorship. While the internet has provided a platform for free expression and the sharing of information, it has also become a tool for governments to monitor and control their citizens. Countries like China and North Korea have implemented strict internet censorship policies, blocking access to certain websites and social media platforms. These measures are often justified under the guise of maintaining social stability or protecting national security.
Censorship has been a constant presence throughout history, evolving and adapting to the changing times. While it has been used for various purposes, from maintaining political control to protecting public safety, its impact on society has been overwhelmingly negative. As we move forward, it is important that the preservation of freedom of expression remain intact. Only through open dialogue and a respect for diverse perspectives can we ensure a society that is both informed and free.

As it happens I was listening to a lighting the void episode from early 2020 this morning when you were co-hosting (Darren) and man did Joe call it re: kkovid. He asked "is this how they get us vaccined?" or something to that effect.
In any case I'm sure you guys will get it sorted. One door closes, another opens, that kind of thing. Although there's a lot of closing doors these days it seems. I follow you guys on Rumble occasionally, next time I'm there I'll give a like and comment. ok peace
That is just brutal. You guys should get on Rockfin if you haven't already. Man if you could ever get back on Twitter or your show on Twitter outright maybe you could make some cash that way. I threw you guys 50bucks awhile back, your constant guilt tripping at the end of shows finally worked haha.
